What is E.A.R.? E.A.R. is a great, fun and interactive way to provide an open forum to the students to communicate effectively with each other about the books they have chosen to read at home or outside of class instruction. The students are asked to read a book, magazine, newspaper or article that they find of interest to them. After reading this the student must then choose one of the graphic organizers provided in class and/or on this website to complete after reading. Each day during E.A.R. time students are then selected to share their thoughts, feelings and organized ideas with the class about their reading, using the organizer they chose to complete. Students are thrilled to be the "one reporting" to the class about their favorite character from the book, their feeling about the theme of the book, and many other experiences they are having as they read for fun! Making connections to their reading and to the world around them, beginning in their very own classroom with their friends and teacher opens their eyes to a lifelong love of reading and the places it can take each one of us!
